I’m Jeff Campbell, and I’m running for Beverly Hills Village Council because I want to put my experience in local government, community development, and public service to work for our residents.
Having previously served as Beverly Hills Village Manager, I understand our community and how our Village government works. I also understand the importance of thoughtful planning, responsible financial management, strong public services, and listening to the people we serve. I believe we can preserve the qualities that make Beverly Hills special while continuing to invest in the future of our community. Most importantly, Beverly Hills is a great place to live because of the people who call it home. Our residents are our greatest asset.
At my core, I’m an optimist and a pragmatist. I believe in working together, getting things done, and delivering results. I would be honored to earn your support for Beverly Hills Village Council.

My Priorities
Maintaining and Improving the Quality of Life in Beverly Hills
Good local government should make a positive difference in people's everyday lives. For Beverly Hills, that means safe neighborhoods, well-maintained roads and infrastructure, outstanding parks and public spaces, responsible financial management, effective public works and public safety services, a healthy local business community, and a Village government that is responsive to its residents. My priorities for Village Council are focused on maintaining these qualities while preparing Beverly Hills for the future.
Preserving and Investing in Our Infrastructure
Strong communities are built on strong infrastructure. Preserving and improving our roads, water and sewer systems, sidewalks, drainage, and other public infrastructure must remain a priority for Beverly Hills. These investments are not always the flashiest work of local government, but they are among the most important. Delaying necessary maintenance can lead to larger and more expensive problems in the future. As a Council member, I will support a thoughtful, long-term approach to infrastructure that identifies needs, establishes priorities, pursues available outside funding, and responsibly invests Village resources.
Our goal should be straightforward: preserve what we have, address problems before they become emergencies, and make strategic investments that serve Beverly Hills for years to come.
Protecting Taxpayers Through Fiscal Responsibility
Fiscal responsibility is about respecting taxpayers and making sure every public dollar is used wisely. However, fiscal responsibility does not mean simply spending less. Fiscal responsibility means establishing clear priorities, maintaining appropriate reserves, carefully evaluating expenditures, planning for long-term obligations, and making sure residents receive value for their tax dollars. It also means looking beyond Village revenues whenever possible by pursuing grants, partnerships, and other outside resources that can help fund important community improvements. Responsible government requires responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars.
Supporting Effective Village Government
A municipality can only succeed when its employees have the resources, training, technology, equipment, and support necessary to do their jobs effectively. Police, fire, emergency response, public works, administration, and other Village services directly affect the quality of life our residents experience every day.
Village Council has an important responsibility to establish policy, provide oversight, and ensure that our professional staff has the tools necessary to carry out the Village's mission. I will support an accountable, professional, and responsive Village government that provides residents with high-quality services while continually looking for opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Our staff, especially our Village public safety officers and public works employees, need reliable equipment, appropriate technology, training, and adequate resources to respond effectively and keep our community safe.
When our administration operates efficiently, residents receive better service, projects move forward more effectively, and taxpayer dollars are managed more responsibly.
Contintued Enhancement of Our Parks
Beverly Hills' parks and public spaces are an important part of what makes our community such a wonderful place to live. Our parks are also long-term community assets. Maintaining and improving them requires thoughtful planning and continued investment. The goal should not simply be to maintain our parks, but to ensure they continue to contribute to the quality of life that makes Beverly Hills special.
Proceed With Long-Term Planning and Building Partnerships
Resilient communities do not simply respond to today's challenges—they plan for tomorrow. I believe Beverly Hills should continue to take a thoughtful, practical, long-term approach to the decisions and investments that will shape our community for years to come, such as the Beverly Park 2050 Plan, a forthcoming amended Master Plan, and a Capital Improvement Plan. Actionable plans help guide future councils and administrations as to the needs, priorities, schedules and funding. As we implement these plans, the Village must continue to strengthen our parternships with our neighboring municipalities, Oakland County, and the State of Michigan to help understand opportunites to the Village to further these plans and costs. Local government is most effective when it works collaboratively. Beverly Hills does not exist in isolation. Many of the issues affecting our residents—including roads, infrastructure, public safety, economic development, recreation, and regional services—extend beyond Village boundaries. Collaboration can help us solve problems, share resources, pursue grant opportunities, reduce costs, and improve services.
Just as importantly, Village government must collaborate and engage with the residents. Good planning and decisions begin with listening.
